At Nyakasura every learner is encouraged to discover their talents. Through games and sport, clubs and societies, leadership programmes and the creative arts, students build confidence, teamwork and character.
Sport
Nyakasura is the birthplace of school cricket in Uganda: the first ball was bowled on its grounds in 1929, and the school has produced national team players and a national team coach. Students also play football, basketball, volleyball, rugby and athletics, and swim in the first school pool built in Uganda.
Debate
The Debate Club meets every Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the Main Hall. Members compete in British Parliamentary and World Schools formats. Nyakasura were national champions in 2014, 2017 and 2024.
Music, dance and drama
Music, dance and drama (MDD) is a proud tradition, alongside choir and worship teams in the chapel.
Clubs and societies
Academic, cultural, service and faith clubs give every student a place to belong, including agribusiness, the Christian Union and the Scripture Union.
Boarding and uniform
Nyakasura is a boarding school. Its distinctive uniform includes the boys' khaki kilts with sporran and red leg warmers, a tradition that goes back to the school's Scottish founder.
